Facing God (from Psalm 107)

Leader: O give thanks to the Lord, for God is good.

All: For God’s steadfast love endures forever.

Leader: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, those God redeemed from trouble and

gathered in from the lands.

All: From the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

Leader: Let us worship God.

All Who Are Thirsty

All who are thirsty

All who are weak

Come to the fountain

Dip your heart in the stream of life

Let the pain and the sorrow

Be washed away

In the waves of God’s mercy

As deep cries out to deep

Come, Lord Jesus, come

Come, Lord Jesus, come

All who are thirsty

All who are weak

Come to the fountain

Dip your heart in the stream of life

Let the pain and the sorrow

Be washed away

In the waves of God’s mercy

As deep cries out to deep

Come, Lord Jesus, come

Come, Lord Jesus, come

Holy Spirit, come

Holy Spirit, come

As deep cries out to deep

As deep cries out to deep

As deep cries out to deep

Come, Lord Jesus, come

Come, Lord Jesus, come

Holy Spirit, come

Holy Spirit, come

Laying Down Our Burdens & Assurance

(Remain muted and read liturgy aloud at home)

All: Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you by what we have done and what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart, mind, and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. Forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your name. Amen.

Leader: The Good News is that Christ has come and Christ will come again.

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

Refrain: Beautiful Things

You make beautiful things

You make beautiful things out of the dust

You make beautiful things

You make beautiful things out of us

Children's Bible Story

Lectio Conversation (John 3:14-21)

(Hold onto these questions while we read our scripture.)

What stands out to you about this text?

How does this extremely well-known text speak to you in your life today?

And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.

“Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Discussion

Sharing Our Faith with One Another

Sharing questions:

  1. What spiritual practices have been helpful for you, in general or especially in this season?

  2. What is something you struggle with in your faith?

  3. What is something you believe that you cannot be argued out of?

Homily

Remedy by Adele

I remember all of the things that I thought I wanted to be

So desperate to find a way out of my world and finally breathe

Right before my eyes, I saw that my heart, it came to life

This ain't easy, it's not meant to be

Every story has its scars

Chorus:

But when the pain cuts you deep

When the night keeps you from sleeping

Just look and you will see

That I will be your remedy

When the world seems so cruel

And your heart makes you feel like a fool

I promise you will see

That I will be, I will be your remedy

No river is too wide or too deep for me to swim to you

Come whatever, I'll be the shelter that won't let the rain come through

Your love, it is my truth

And I will always love you

Love you, oh

Chorus (x2)

Prayers of the People

Now is the time when we share the prayers on our hearts and minds. If you have a private prayer, you can email them to us throughout the week and the pastoral team will pray over them.

If you have a prayer, please unmute your mic to share.

After each prayer, I will lead our response on mute:

Lord in your mercy // hear our prayers

***

Now I will offer a prayer for the greater community and world. We will end by saying the Lord’s Prayer together in whatever language you prefer. Let us pray.

(muted)

Leader: Just as God/Christ taught us to pray...

All: Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen.

Oh How I Need You

Lord I find You in the seeking

Lord I find You in the doubt

And to know You is to love you

And to know so little else

I need You

Oh how I need You (x3)

Lord I find You in the morning

Lord I seek You everyday

Let my life be for Your glory

Woven in Your threads of grace

I need You

Oh how I need You (x3)

Light, glorious light

I will go where You shine

Break the dawn, crack the skies

Make the way bright before me

In Your light I will find

All I need, all I need is You

Oh how I need You (x3)

Sending/Blessing (from Ephesians 2)

(Remain muted and read liturgy aloud at home)

As we close this time together, let us read this word from the letter to the Ephesians:

All: For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God — not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what God has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

Leader: The steadfast love of God goes with you, the deep and abiding peace of Christ goes with you, and the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit goes with you, now and always. Amen.

Feel free to hang out a little longer and catch up with others! Please also leave us feedback in the chat so we know what's working well and what to tweak for the future.
