Facing God (from Psalm 98)

(Remain muted and read liturgy aloud at home)

Leader: O sing to the LORD a new song,

for God has done marvelous things.

All: Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;

break forth into joyous song and sing praises.

Leader: Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;

the world and those who live in it.

All: Let the floods clap their hands;

let the hills sing together for joy

Leader: At the presence of the Lord. Let us worship God.

They Will Know We Are Christians

We are one in the Spirit we are one in the Lord

We are one in the Spirit we are one in the Lord

And we pray that all unity may one day be restored

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

They will know we are Christians by our love

We will walk with each other we will walk hand in hand

We will walk with each other we will walk hand in hand

And together we will spread the news that God is in our land

And they will know we are Christians by our love, by our love

They will know we are Christians by our love

We will work with each other we will work side by side

We will work with each other we will work side by side

And we’ll guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love

Laying Down Our Burdens & Assurance

(Remain muted and read liturgy aloud at home)

All: Holy God, we confess that we are not at peace with others or with ourselves. We try to fill the holes in our lives with empty things and find ourselves languishing despite our efforts. We bring to you now all that tears us apart: anger in our families and friend groups, violence and illness in the world, exhaustion and hatred within our own wilted hearts. In your mercy, mend us and put us back together. Send your Spirit to move through our being and bring us closer to your love. Amen.

Leader: The Good News is that Christ has come and Christ will come again.

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

Refrain: Beautiful Things

You make me new,

You are making me new

You make me new,

You are making me new

Lectio Conversation (Psalm 51:1, 6-12)

(Hold onto these questions while we read our scripture.)

What stands out to you about this text?

What do you think a “new heart” would feel like to you?

Have mercy on me, O God,

according to your steadfast love;

according to your abundant mercy

blot out my transgressions.

You desire truth in the inward being;

therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;

wash me, and I shall be purer than snow.

Let me hear joy and gladness;

let the bones that you have crushed rejoice.

Hide your face from my sins,

and blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

and put a new and right spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from your presence,

and do not take your holy spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation,

and sustain in me a willing spirit.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Homily

Create In Me

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a right spirit within me.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from thy presence, O Lord,

Take not thy Holy Spirit from me.

Restore unto me the joy of my salvation,

And renew a right spirit within me.

Prayers of the People

Now is the time when we share the prayers on our hearts and minds. If you have a private prayer, you can email them to us throughout the week and the pastoral team will pray over them.

If you have a prayer, please unmute your mic to share.

After each prayer, I will lead our response on mute:

Lord in your mercy // hear our prayers

***

Now I will offer a prayer for the greater community and world. We will end by saying the Lord’s Prayer together in whatever language you prefer. Let us pray.

(muted)

Leader: Just as God/Christ taught us to pray...

All: Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen.

Take My Life and Let It Be

Take my life and let it be

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee

Take my moments and my days

Let them flow in ceaseless praise

Let them flow in ceaseless praise

Chorus:

Take my heart, Lord, and my mind

May they be Yours

Take my soul, Lord, and my will

I offer them to You, I offer them to You

Take my voice and let it sing

ever only to my King

Take my lips and let them be

Filled with messages from Thee

Filled with messages from Thee

Chorus

Take my love my Lord I pour

At your feet its treasure store

Take myself and I will be

Ever only all for Thee

Ever only all for Thee

Ever only all for Thee

Sending/Blessing (from 1 John 1)

(Remain muted and read liturgy aloud at home)

As we close this time together, let us read this word from first letter of John:

All: We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life — this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it— we declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Leader: The steadfast love of God goes with you, the deep and abiding peace of Christ goes with you, and the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit goes with you, now and always. Amen.
