Virtual Worship begins THIS Sunday 3/15/20

We hope everyone is staying safe in the midst of growing coronavirus concerns. The session met this morning via conference call and made the difficult decision to move worship online (no in-person worship) at least through April 5th. At that time we will reevaluate risks and let you know about plans for Holy Week. Our session made this decision thoughtfully, prayerfully, and with much love for all our neighbors in mind.  Tomorrow at 5:30pm we will be live-streaming an abbreviated service from Beacon using our YouTube channel. Click here to go to our YouTube channel.  It is our goal to move to Zoom video meetings but as that takes some additional set-up steps we are starting with YouTube live (which anyone can access) and will be offering Zoom assistance to anyone that needs it. On Wednesday evening at 7:00pm we will have a brief Zoom gathering to pray and get used to the Zoom technology. Email info@thewordatbeacon.org for Zoom information. For those wishing to maintain a regular spiritual practice of participating in the offering, you can give online by clicking here or you can mail a check to 2364 E Cumberland St Philadelphia PA 19125.  We have been in contact with some of our more vulnerable neighbors and have made sure they are taken care of. We have also been in touch with Hackett Elementary and St. Francis Inn to see what support they might need in this time. We will keep you posted.  If you are unable to make the livestream or zoom meeting, feel free to email prayer requests to info@thewordatbeacon.org .   As I said in my letter a few days ago, we are being invited to love our neighbors with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love. Though it is painful to not gather in person right now for prayer and support, we feel strongly that this is the most loving thing we can do for all our neighbors. We are doing our best to still offer support and community in creative ways.  I invite you to continue to pray with me for all those affected by this situation.  Sincerely, Rebecca
