Summertime: Open Yard

During the summer, our afterschool program shifts from M/T/W to Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am - 12pm.  Join us for games, urban gardening, snacks, stories, and quality time with neighbors of all ages. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.

Community Art Events

Beacon regularly offers community art events that foster relationships between neighbors, as well as individual and communal creativity. Some examples include gingerbread house making, Mardi Gras mask-making, s'mores in the yard, and story-sharing workshops. For more information about upcoming events, sign up for our newsletter, and check our facebook page to find out what's happening soon.

The Studio at Beacon

The Studio at Beacon offers a safe space for creativity and imagination for our community year round, whether programs take place on-site at Beacon or at our local elementary school, Hackett.

All programs are free, non-religious, open to all, and include all necessary supplies.

The Story Studio

Beacon offers a literacy and creative writing program for K-5th grade students at Horatio B. Hackett Elementary school. We work alongside literacy educators to foster a love of creative expression through reading, listening, writing, and drawing. This is a weekly program offered alongside the Philadelphia public school schedule. We welcome volunteers to join us! Click below for more information about volunteering. (This program is currently on hiatus. Stay tuned for updates!)
